The Outer Banks Association of REALTORS® (OBAR) recently hosted its 36th annual Charity Golf Tournament. The event is part of OBAR's "Surf, Turf, and Roll" initiative, a series of three fund raising events, including a surf fishing, golf, and bowling tournament, which invites the community to donate and support OBAR's charitable funds. Twenty-nine teams gathered at Kilmarlic Golf Club for a day of laid-back competition to fund raise for a great cause.

This year, Arbor Home Loans, led by Captain Daniel Caro, along with teammates Kristine Baum, Brent Fleury, and Wendy Nelson claimed first place.

The golfers were treated to a reception courtesy of Clubhouse Sponsor, Carrier Enterprises. Additional course sponsors included Brindley Beach Vacation and Sales for the beverage cart, and two major hole sponsors: Trisha Midgett of Midgett Realty and Resort Realty.

Co-Chairs Kaye Jones of TowneBank Mortgage and Kathie Nesbitt of Arbor Home Loans led the planning efforts for the event. Other committee members included Sara Marques, Thomas Fleming, Robert Nichols, Caroline Decker, Kelley Horton, Anne Morrisette, and Ashley Wood.

'The success of this year's tournament is a direct reflection of the time, energy, and passion that co-chairs Kathie and Kaye, along with our dedicated tournament committee, invested throughout the planning process," said Janice Scarborough, 2026 President of the Outer Banks Association of Realtors. "Their hard work brought our members, staff, community partners, and supporters together for a truly meaningful event. We are especially grateful to our sponsors for their generous contributions and to everyone who played a role in making this year's tournament such a tremendous success."

Altogether, the tournament raised over $16,000. Proceeds from the tournament and accompanying auction will benefit OBAR's Scholarship and Disaster Relief funds, both held at the Outer Banks Community Foundation. Since their inception in the 1990s, the funds have awarded scholarships to over 200 students and have provided assistance to those affected by storms and other crises on the Outer Banks.
